Mercury Retrograde, again already?!?!?!

MRX RELAX

I know! I know!! I know!!! How can MRx be back again already?????

Well, as we know, MRx occurs four times a year; it just never seems to end. In fairness, there have been several Rx in 2016:

RETROGRADES

Just a quick reminder: you can survive and enjoy MRx (“What? She can’t mean it!!” Ah, but I do! Calm down, stay with me!) in small, quiet, consistent ways. The idea is simple; you do not need to perfect all aspects of your whole life all at once – let’s be real, you can’t do that when is Mercury direct – but you can work in small ways toward small victories. And they add up pretty nicely, if a bit slowly. (Mileage may vary – patience is indicated.)

The following suggestions are loosely organized in my own order of importance – feel free to reorganize any way you prefer:

  • Self-care: This often appears among my suggestions because it is so very, very important. So often, we happily short-change ourselves for others; this can become a bad habit (at worst, turning into co-dependence / at best, resulting in personal exhaustion)if we are not careful. Self-care can be as simple as a savored cup of coffee, or as involved as a weekend away at a spa – to each their own as needs be.
  • Rest & Relax: This is a spin-off of self-care; be sure to get enough rest. Go to bed early when you can. Drink chamomile tea if it helps you relax. Do not allow your self to become over-stimulated too late at night. Most people (in the US) do not get enough sleep, and that just makes everything more difficult. Get your rest, eat your Wheaties.
  • Flexibility: MRx is not a time for starting new projects, creating new schedules, or planning new adventures. However, it is a great time to consider making changes to existing plans or projects, to re-evaluate and adjust. Do not allow yourself to be mired – be flexible and roll with changes as they present themselves, and allow for the possibility someone else may have a helpful suggestion.
  • Kindness: Choose to be kind. Smile. Say good morning. Hold a door open. Allow someone into traffic. Put out fresh water for strays. Small acts of kindness build positive energy – the more you have, the more you can share, the more it will grow.
  • De-clutter: We’ve been going over this frequently in 2016 – rid yourself of anything that does not serve you. If you do not need it, love it or use it, off it goes. This has the two-part benefit of a) increasing your breathing room, and b) releasing energy to flow freely.
  • Re-kindle: We often think about people we miss; we drift apart, or have a tiff that gets blown well out of proportion, or geography gets in the way. MRx is the perfect time to forgive and forget, reach out to those people we miss. Maybe nothing comes of it but you will never know if you do not try.
  • Love: You aleady have people you love, so love them. Tell them. Show them. Hold them. Love them out loud because you never know how much time you have.
