Fun Friday!

IT’S FINALLY FRIDAY!!!!!

Time to have a smidge of fun before we start running weekend errands!

Today, wherever you are, go outside, stand barefoot on a patch of grass, and sing “I’m a Little Teapot” or “Itsy, Bitsy Spider” – out loud or silently to yourself – and allow yourself to feel a surge of youthful enthusiasm.

Sounds silly? I sure hope so! That’s the point – take a few minutes to have some silly fun this Friday.

ENJOY!

Think About It Thursday

WELCOME TO OUR NEW FEATURE!

Think About It Thursday is meant to be a forum for witchy discussions, thoughts, ideas, and issues. If you have questions, or thoughts, about anything in particular you would like to share, and open up for discussion, bring it here! Drop your thought in comments and we will get that ball rolling!

I’ll start: what do we think is the best way to organize a spell book? (FYI: No arguing about what we call the book – to each their own)

Speaking for myself, I have several different journals with several scribbled pages – notes on crystals, teas, tarot, etc – with no particular rhyme or reason. Even to me, this seems ridiculous but I have yet to come up with a consistent system of organization that does not involve one book for each topic. The struggle is real – send help!

One idea – skill level – sounds like a good idea until you realize skill levels are neither consistent nor constant. What once felt advanced might later seem more intermediary. OR WORSE, something thought simple (and relatively harmless) turns out to be bigger and more powerful than it first appeared. I’m not suggesting spells should comes with warning labels, but maybe….?

Another idea – a three ring binder rather than a book – also sounds like a good idea, if you are not bothered by the lack of permanence. By it’s nature, and the reason it would be a good idea, the pages are movable; you can organize and reorganize all you like. But that same action of taking pages out at any time gives the book a wobbly, and fragile, feeling.

An idea I do like very much – adding color coded tabs and labels – could help locate any tea recipe (green leaf tab) throughout the book, which sounds great….unless it falls off. What’s the life span of a sticker?

So, as I said, let’s think about it – put our heads together and come up with some ideas. I look forward to your thoughts.

Be happy. Be safe. Be well.

What Do You Really Want Wednesday!

Welcome to our new feature!

“There are only two tragedies in life: one is not getting what one wants, and the other is getting it.”

Oscar Wilde

We have a New Moon this week, and I am very aware this is a great time to plant seeds of manifestation. I am also aware most of us have no idea what we really want. We are all familiar with the old adage, “Be careful what you wish for surely you will get it.” largely because it is true.

EXAMPLE: Three witches cast a spell for abundance (they want money) and all three become pregnant. Is that a success? It is abundance but not what they thought they wanted.

Too often, we are in a hurry to cast, plant, invoke, petition, etc., just because we have a phase of the moon. (NOTE: No matter what the current moon phase, there will be another one next month.) Successful manifestation – receiving and or creating what you really want, rather than some version of what you think you asked for – requires a certain order of operations for best results. Today, we have what I like to think of as Step One:

ENVISION. What does your successful manifestation look like?

Do you know what you want the final outcome to be? Is it a particular job/title, home/address, business opportunity, bank account balance? To be clear, I am not talking about a vision board with pictures of what you want that other people have; I am talking about as exact a vision as possible of what you want your life to look like (and be!) through your manifestation. Right it down – every detail, no piece of the vision too small – the more specific it is, the better but do not overthink it. For now, just let it flow.

Think about it. Work on it. Dream it as big as you like. And next week, we will talk about the importance of Step Two – Review.

Be happy. Be safe. Be well.

TALK TO THE HAND TUESDAY!

WELCOME TO OUR NEW FEATURE!

Talk To The Hand Tuesday is for gripes, grievances, petty annoyances, and any other little thing (or big thing) we are carrying around, and would like to get off our otherwise sparkly, magical chests!

I’ll start: Just because you are a witch does not mean you are compelled to enjoy creepy, Halloween-type trappings!!!!

Do not misunderstand – I appreciate the good work of bats and spiders, I do in fact have a black cat, and pumpkin spice is my absolute favorite potion (I put it in my coffee all year long).

However, the idea I must run right out to Target or Michael’s to surround myself with every cheap wannabe-gothic-crypt-keeper-black-and-purple item I can find, is not only ridiculous but also insulting. Although, all things being equal, not as insulting as the ugly green faced witch that persists.

TO BE CLEAR: If you enjoy those Halloween trappings, that’s great – I am not disparaging your taste or your identity.

What I am actually ranting about is witches being treated as a unified demographic that is largely the same. Witches certainly are not behind that marketing strategy as we know better. But too many witches are buying into it, and that is not helping.

— If you are a witch who loves sparkles and rainbows, go with that – save the black dress for funerals.

— If you are all about the muted tones of late fall, or the pastels of early spring, your space should reflect it.

–If you prefer Shaker to Gothic, sit on the chair of your choice.

I am aware this sounds as if I think I have the right to “give permission” to others to make choices but that is not the intention.

Lately, I have been reading too many posts about people not being “witchy enough” and sincerely, there is no such thing. Being a witch is all about owning your intention and energy, not trappings. Whatever type of witch you are, you are already enough – do it your own way, and know it does not matter one fallen leaf what anyone else thinks or says about your brand of witchieness.

My own brand closely resembles (but is not limited to) the pic below.

Practical Magic Monday!

Welcome to our new feature!

It has recently come to my attention that a great many people (witches and non-witches alike) labor under the belief “magic” requires “ritual.”

NOPE! NOPE! NOPE!

If we are 100% honest, magic only requires intention.

Everything else is optional.

If elaborate ritual works for you, go for it! But if you feel you are a “failing” witch because you can’t seem to get it together for rituals, you are very much mistaken.

TODAY’S EXAMPLE: Carrying crystals.

Sacred geometry, crystal formation, and crystal vibration are very old, well-established scientific ideas (think Ptolemy, DaVinci, Tesla, Einstein), despite what some of the more mundane thinkers of our time may believe (read Dursley-level muggles). These earthly delights come in a wide range of energetic strengths, and they do not need to be “told” what to do.

Practical Example: If you put black tourmaline in your pocket, it will repel negative energy without any input from you…but if you also want it to cleanse your energy as you move through your day, you will need to set that intention when you put it in your pocket – no song and dance required, unless you are into that.

So, do some research, know your crystals, and when you want something particular at work for you, that’s the crystal you put in your pocket (or purse, or bra, or whatever). The crystal and the intention will work together to make the magic.

(The pic below provides some examples of the energy work but is not meant to be definitive or prescriptive – decide for yourself.)

Be happy. Be safe. Be well.

HAPPY FULL MOON WITCHES.jpg

REMINDER: Be sensitive to others as well as yourself; many people have a difficult time with the energy of the Full Moon so this is not a good time to be too demanding, or  skip your self-care.

As always, be happy, safe, well and grateful, under the powerful gaze of  Selene’s beautifully Full Moon!
