Blue Moon 07/31/15 — Time To Think Big!!

unnamed

“The vision must be followed by the venture. It is not enough to stare up the steps – we must step up the stairs.”                   — Vance Havner

Plans for the Blue Moon? Thinking about your intentions? Looking for a good spot to dance naked? All good, have fun. May your intentions should be true, and your dance party uninterrupted by local authorities.

But just in case you are not making plans for the Blue Moon, I would like to suggest you think about it. This energy is rare, ripe and wonderful for sharing with friends, family, and loved ones – perhaps a small dinner party with strawberries and champagne, or a huge barbecue with lemonade and strawberry shortcake – you do not need to make a wish or cast a spell to enjoy the positive energy of community, bounty and gratitude. Perhaps you prefer to relish the energy alone – a walk on the beach or sitting beside an outdoor fire pit – allowing the silver beams to fill your heart and move your blood just as the oceans receive the same gifts.

There is no downside to enjoying a full moon, and the Blue Moon is a special treat.

Please remember to enjoy responsibly; the full moon is not an excuse to behave badly or recklessly – your actions are always your own truth!

Living Tarot: The Wheel Of Fortune

Audaces fortuna iuvat (Virgil)

The Wheel of Fortune (Card X) is a reminder of the only true constant – the inevitability of change. In readings, The Wheel is generally considered a harbinger of imminent change of circumstance, up or down, and a warning to brace for impact. And while this reader concedes there is generally some truth to that assessment, it overlooks a great deal.

In our everyday lives, like it or not, change is always occurring; most changes are so slight or subtle, and completely unnoticed (i.e. difference in temperature between 80 and 79 degrees) as we adapt to them unconsciously while moving through our day. Within each of us exists the ability to adapt, to change, to evolve; throughout the ages, our very survival has depended upon our adaptability, and this is no less true in our modern time.

SPOILER ALERT!! That is the gift of The Wheel of Fortune!

The Wheel is not merely a harbinger of change (or disaster, as so many people see it), it is also a reminder of our ability to handle change with courage, strength and grace. Why? Because how you handle the change is every bit as important as the change itself. In every situation, The Wheel offers a choice: will you be crushed, or will you roll with it, dust yourself off, and move on to the next thing?

ALWAYS REMEMBER: The changes may not be your choice but how you handle change is always up to you.

Words Have Power

Words have power. This is not a secret, although it appears many have forgotten. The age of social media has given everyone a forum to say absolutely nothing, and that is often exactly what they are doing. The spoken word is the ultimate GIGO – Garbage In, Garbage Out – if the words are garbage, so too the world becomes garbage. If you are watching “reality television” of following American politics, you know this is true.

How do we stop this era of empty prattle and hurtful noise? How do we repair the damage done?

Would you be surprised to learn the answer is as simple as ‘Think before you speak?’

When Emily Dickinson wrote these beautiful words about the relationship between the moon and the sea, she was drawing them to her very heart,

Oh, Signor, Thine, the Amber Hand –

And mine – the distant Sea –

Obedient to the least command

Thine eye impose on me –

Dickinson was not only a gifted poet, she was a mindful builder of worlds; she created her own, and she shared it with us and we are very lucky to have it still. She set an example we should continue to follow; mindfulness in our words.

NEWS FLASH!!!!!!! No matter what you have been taught, the following are the same:

  • prayer
  • wish
  • spell
  • dream
  • affirmation
  • visualization

You create the world you live in by giving your thoughts (and ideas, feelings, wants, etc) life through the power of your voice. You release to The Divine Power of The Universe (call it what you will) the energy to create anything and everything; if you are not mindful, you will create perfectly that which you have no genuine desire to experience.

Before you speak it out loud, ask yourself: do I want this for myself, and what am I willing to pay for it?

Be honest with yourself as well as others, and create beauty when you are able – let mindfulness of words be your guide – and joy will surely follow.
